Living Successfully – Dealing with self-doubt

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

Self-doubt seen in our lack of confidence and fear is easily the #1 reason many of us never realize our goals and dreams. It has a way of crippling and paralyzing, and rather than striving for the best we tend to settle for less. Many times it is those closest to us that fuel this self-doubt with comments like: “that is too risky”, “why can’t you be like…”, “ stop dreaming and get real” many are well intended but the result is that of confining us to a box or limiting our capacity to grow.

The question then with so many nay-sayers around, what can we do to overcome the resulting self-doubt? Well-known author Dr. Norman Vincent Peale said, “Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.”

You can start by living in the present; what can you do today to move a step closer to the dream and goal? Don’t let past failure and challenges determine your destiny and don’t obsess over the future in what may hinder. Next surround yourself with persons who can contribute to your success. One such person could be a professional life and business coach who can work with you to define the “gap” between where you are now and where you want to be by developing and understanding these four key areas:

Awareness – Where are you now?

Vision – Where do you want to go?

Strategy & Action – How do you get there?

Obstacles – What gets in the way?

To defeat self –doubt you need to take action!

At Living Successfully Inc. (LSI) we are here to help you succeed by providing the tools and resources needed for you to grow and achieve your goals and dreams.
