The success of your team, organization or institution depends upon the quality of its leadership. It is leadership, which provides the influence for positive change to occur it is also what keeps an organization moving forward. Therefore good leadership is always about change. The change good leadership brings to the table is often multifaceted; it creates other leaders, enhances the culture, improves the systems and creates the vision to mention a few.

A good manager may execute an existing system or process very well but it takes good leadership to develop the system, this is because good leaders are capable and willing to change; they are willing to chart new courses and change direction when conditions require it.

The other aspect of leadership is probably the most obvious, it has followers. People will follow good leaders even in the midst of challenging conditions, we see this in a man called Jesus who took twelve unlikely characters over 2,000 years ago who went on to change the world. Mark Twain said, “Great things can happen when you don’t care who gets the credit.” This is the fundamental difference between good leadership and management. Leadership will empower others, encouraging growth, while management seeks only to control and maintain the status quo, thereby limiting growth.
